"Munro Art Gallery was created to showcase the family of South African traditional artists, Paul Munro and his wife Helen Munro. His two children Roxanne Munro and Gordon Munro, as well as his nephew Gareth Munro. Each with their own approach and choice of subject matter. "
Helen Munro
Growing up, Helen Munro, was very much influenced by her mother’s Interior design background, creativity and love thereof and spent most of her spare time drawing, writing and creating. After obtaining a BA in Fine Art, Helen began ceramic work and painting full time. Her work varies from traditional art to a contemporary style with a surreal feel. She worked in oils, water colour combined with pencil and mixed media. Some of her artworks included consignments for companies, such as the Border Rugby Club.
Helen was visiting with her family in Gauteng, when she stumbled upon a vacancy for a Visual merchandiser, applied and was accepted. She was responsible for the visual and advertising effects for five different stores, whilst studying Interior Design part time, where she obtained a National diploma in Interior Design.
In true gypsy style, Helen moved back to East London, to be closer to her family in Port Elizabeth, where she began a 2 year internship in a printing company and qualified as a Graphic designer, which led to a 15 year long career as a Senior Graphic designer, in marketing and advertising agencies, but all the while, her love of fine art remained cardinal, and she continued to paint and do ceramics on consignment.
During COVID, Helen decided to make Fine art her full time career again. She returned to Port Elizabeth and now works with mixed media, to achieve the effects she requires to express herself, being a narrative artist, it’s important for her art to tell her story, whilst incorporating the latest trends in Interior design. Having studied colour therapy, she’s always conscious of how she combines them and the effect they will have on the audience.
Her artworks are an expression of what she believes in, human and nature as one, she focuses on eyes, being the window to the soul, holding a multitude of secrets, the effects of light and shadows, and of course realism combined with surrealism. She offers the service of Interior design consulting, free of charge, as she believes an artwork should complement the interior space.

She is also currently working on a line of functional ceramics pieces.
