"Munro Art Gallery was created to showcase the family of South African traditional artists, Paul Munro and his wife Helen Munro. His two children Roxanne Munro and Gordon Munro, as well as his nephew Gareth Munro. Each with their own approach and choice of subject matter. "
Roxanne Munro
Roxanne was born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1989 and grew up in the Eastern Cape. Since early childhood, Roxanne has been guided by her father, artist Paul Munro and influenced by the old masters, also taking a keen interest in narrative art which is depicted in many of her figurative paintings. Strongly influenced by the artists in the late renaissance period and how they employed light and shadow in their work, Roxanne began to study light and how a scene can be influenced by different light sources. Roxanne is also known for her ability in capturing her subject's personality in her portraiture.
In 2009, at the tender age of 19 she held her first solo art exhibition and has been participating in group exhibitions across South Africa since the age of 16. Roxanne now resides in East London, South Africa with her husband and two sons primarily focusing on Birds as her subject matter.
Roxanne believes that time is of the essence and one should wake up every day with the intention to grow and develop.
